PORTLAND - Emmy-Leigh Maryrose Cole, 8 months, of Auburn, died Saturday, March 24, at Maine Medical Center, with her mommy, memere and pepere holding her.
She was born July 7, 2006, the daughter of Michael Lee Cole and Libby St. Pierre.
Mommy will never forget how tiny you were at 4 pounds, 14 ounces, and your wrinkley face when you came into this world, or how much your daddy bursted with pride when you were born.
Emmy was one of the most popular 8 month olds around. She melted everyone's heart that she came into contact with. A five minute trip to any store with her would always end up being an hour because of all the people who would stop to admire her.
She was a very happy baby and was known for her squeal when she got excited. She was also addicted to her Baby Einstein movies.
Her two sisters never left her side, and were constantly dressing her up in silly outfits, making her do cheering moves, and loved to sneak cookies and popsicles to her behind her mommy's back. One would wonder if she would ever learn to walk, because her sisters never put her down.
Emmy was a very very happy and silly little girl, who already developed the "Princess Complex" and only wore pink, whose favorite expression was "Wahdat," everytime her kitties were in the room, and who would make sounds like an owl. She would go a mile a minute in her johnny jumper and always run over peoples' toes in her walker.
She loved to be rocked by her mommy before bedtime every night, and hum a tune that was passed down through the generations, that her grandmother and great grandmother also hummed to her mommy.
She was a part of Auburn Youth Cheering as their honorary mascot, having her own uniform, and could scream just as loud as the cheerleaders. They would always eagerly wait their turn over who would hold her next. AYC has retired her uniform.
She was "Pepere Louly's" pride and joy, who loved to bring her out for walks in the woods and show her the birds. She was also "Memere Jeannie's" pride and joy, who made sure she had the best of the best and who couldn't give Emmy enough kisses.
She leaves her mother, Libby St. Pierre of Auburn; her father, Michael Cole of Auburn; her two sisters, Mikaila Renee St. Pierre and Mariah Jenee St. Pierre of Auburn; her maternal grandparents, Louis and Jeannie Laplante of Tamworth, N.H.; her paternal grandmother, Debbie Cole; two aunts, Kim Cole, and Meagan Cole, her son, Isaiah, and fiance, Gary Reynolds, all of Lewiston; three uncles, Luke Laplante of Seattle, Wash., and John Cole and Austin Gauthier of Lewiston; her great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gamache Sr., of Litchfield; her wonderful caretakers, Wendy Michaud and her husband, Rick, and Julie Tripp; and all of her friends at daycare; her adoptive aunties, Denisa, Dixie, Jennifer, Melinda, Katie and Evelyn; her three kitties, Moses, Kammy and Sylvester, whom she loved to torment; as well as numerous cousins, and great aunts and uncles who all love and miss our "Miss Emmy-Leigh."
She was predeceased by her maternal great-grandmother, Marieange Poulin; paternal great-grandmother, Rose Irma Laplante, of whom Emmy's middle name was derived; and her paternal grandfather, Roger Cole.
