George Nick Floor was the son of Nicholas "Nick" Efthimios and Catherine Gianicopulos Floor.

George Nick Floor, 75, died Sunday, February 2, 1992 of pulmonary fibrosis.
Born June 3, 1916, at Garfield Smelter to Nick E. and Catherine G. Floor. Graduated from West High School in 1933. Attended the University of Utah. Opened the Golden Gate Tavern in Salt Lake City with his father in 1934. Moved to Los Angeles where he married Helen Callas, January 15, 1939. They had four children. Helen preceded him in death. Worked at Douglas Aircraft from 1939 to 1949. Returned to Salt Lake City where, with his brothers, owned and operated the Golden Gate. In 1955, returned to California, worked at Randall Engineering until 1963; came to Salt Lake City where he was an engineer for Ajax Presses.
Married Rosie Mattingly, January 7, 1968. They had two sons. Became manager of the Granger Shopping Center where, with Rosie, built the Red Feather Lounge which they owned and operated until his retirement in 1988.
Member of Junior AHEPA Band, 1928 to 1935. Charter member of AHEPA where he helped form the Lodge Bonneville Chapter. Became a Mason and advanced to the Sublime Shrine Kingdom of Yorkrite. Shriner in Al Malaikah Shrine in California and El Kalah Temple of Utah, where he played the trombone in the band. Member of Twin Peaks Blue Lodge. Served on the Granger Council for two years and later was on the Board of the West Valley Chamber of Commerce. George was very athletic and refereed soccer until he was 70.
Survived by his wife, Rosie; children, Nick, James and his wife, Margee, Greg and his wife, Kathy, Kathy MacIntosh and her husband, John, Stathi and his wife, Jana, and George II and his fiancee, Crystal Stever, all of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. John G. (Angeline Katie) Georgelas, McLean, Virginia; Mrs. H. M. ''Tink'' (Effie Nickie) Thiese, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William N., Steve N., and James N., two sisters, Helen Klekas and Teddy Lola Arnold.
Formal viewing and memorial services will be held Thursday, February 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South. Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral will be Friday, February 7 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 5th South 1350 East.
In lieu of flowers, George requested contributions be sent to his family at 4182 South 2835 West, West Valley City, UT 84119.

After his first wife died, he married Rosie Mattingley, Jan. 7. 1968. They built and operated the Red Feather Lounge until his retirement in 1988.
He was active in the Masons, where he played trombone in the band, and a charter member of Lodge Bonneville chapter of AHEPA, a Greek men's organization. He served on the Granger Community Council for two years. He also served on the West Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, which honored him for community service.
Survived by his wife, Rosie, West Valley City; five sons and a daughter, Nick, James, Greg and Kathy, all in California; Stathi and George II, both Salt Lake City. Also survived by two sisters, Mrs. John G. (Angelina Katie) Georgelas, McLean, Va., and Mrs. H.M. (Effie Nickie) Thiese, Salt Lake City, and eight grandchildren.
