Vaughan Brooks Bingham, 74, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, at his home in Austin.

He was born in Burnet September 25, 1937, to Charles C. and Florence (Cook) Bingham.

Vaughan spent his youth in Burnet and was a graduate of Burnet High School and member of the Church of Christ.

He lived in Burnet and later moved to Austin in the early 1960's and in June 1972 married Janice Hall.

For over twenty years he worked as a security officer at the State Capitol. In the early 1990's Vaughan retired from the Department of Public Safety, who by that time had taken over security at the Capitol.

After his retirement Vaughan enjoyed working in the yard and being with his grandchildren.

Vaughan is survived by his wife Janice of Austin, daughter Becky French and husband Robert of Hutto, grandchildren Joseph Bingham, Kaitlyn and James French, all of Hutto. Also surviving are his brothers Gene and Jan Bingham of Salado, Robert Bingham of Houston and sister Charlene Amidon on Prattville, Alabama. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill Bingham and sisters Frances Sims and Ruby Nelson.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. The graveside will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Burnet City Cemetery with his friend Mr. Ron Lehde officiating.
