H. Don Rodgers, longtime Abilene resident, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in East Lawn Cemetery on the Comanche Highway in Brownwood. The Rev. Tim Temple, of Abilene Bible Church, will officiate.

Mr. Rodgers was born March 5, 1921 in Jordan Springs in Brown County.

He worked as a sports reporter at the Dallas Journal before moving to Abilene, where he owned and operated a court reporting firm and business school until he retired in 1995.

He was a member of Abilene Bible Church and a supporter of the Howard Payne alumnae association.

Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife, Lucile Williamson Rodgers; sons, Tim and Scott, both of Dallas; a daughter, Melissa of Houston; sisters, Loreta Wells of LaGrange and Nelda Ruth Posey of Brownwood; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
