Scarlett Catherine Parsley Hooker, 23, wife of Jonathan Walton Hooker of Casper Court, Lexington, passed away sunday in Lexington on Comair Flight 5191. She was the daughter of John Young and Gloria Hampton Parsley of London, KY. Beloved sister of Elizabeth "Beth" Young Parsley Bruner and husband John Sherman Bruner of Somerset, KY and Johnna Jo Parsley Stallo and husband Chris of Mason, OH. She was the beloved granddaughter of Cassie Hampton of Somerset, KY.

Between selections from a string quartet Saturday evening, Scarlett and her fiance' Jonathan Hooker exchanged wedding vows in front of 250 friends and family in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. They danced and celebrated for hours before being chauffeured away in a white 1958 Bentley to catch a little sleep before a 6 a.m. flight to California's Disneyland for their honeymoon.

Sadly, on that flight, they died, after less than 12 hours as husband and wife.

Scarlett, whose family owns a well-known tire business in London, was a 2004 graduate of Centre College in Danville, where she majored in anthropology and sociology. She was also a cheerleader, sorority member, and youth swim coach. Recently, she was attending UK to pursue a master's degree in communication disorders. She dreamed of becoming a speech pathologist.

Scarlett was very smart, quiet and kindhearted. She had a particular soft spot for older people and young children. "If anybody wanted a perfect daughter, they would want a Scarlett," said Shirley "Sweetie" Smith of London, a friend of the Parsley family. "It breaks all our hearts." She is forever remembered by her loving family and many friends.
