US Congressman. Served in the United States Army during World War I as a Corporal and Staff Sergeant in the Air Service of the Signal Corps, and served in the Army during World War II as a Captain and legal expert for the Allied forces. He participated in the D-Day landings at Normandy on June 6, 1944 and served with the United States Eighth Army in their drive towards Germany. He was elected to represent Colorado's 4th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1949 to 1973.
