Pvt. Thomas Hugh Brown (b. AL, 1844-d. Perry County, MS, 1926), Co. K ("Ellisville Invincibles," aka "Jones County Invincibles," raised in Jones County, MS),8th MS Infantry. Enlisted Jan. 11, 1864, at Enterprise, Clarke County, MS, at age 20 (according to family birth records, but his military records state that he was "under 18 years of age," so his birth year could be 1846/1847/1848). Present on Feb. 1864 company muster roll. On April 9, 1865, for purposes of surrender at war's end, the 8th MS Infantry was consolidated with the 5th MS Infantry, the 32nd MS Infantry, and the 3rd Battalion MS Infantry to form the 8th Battalion Consolidated MS Infantry. Pvt. Brown served in Co. B of this consolidated command. Served till war's end.Surrendered at war's end at the general surrender of Confederate troops in the Carolinas with Gen. Joseph E. Johnston and the Army of the South on April 26, 1865, and paroled at Greensboro, NC, May 1, 1865. Southern Patriot! Buried in the Buck Creek Cemetery, 31.34563 -89.04050, located on the W side of the road at 907 Buck Creek Road, Richton, Perry County, MS, with a Confederate marker.Pvt.
