Roslyn Tondre Bates, age 80 of Seguin, passed away on March 16, 2013. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Tres Hewell Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Paul M. Cross and Seminarian Donna Lou Zipp officiating. Interment will follow in San Geronimo Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Life Enrichment Center at Faith Lutheran Church. Roslyn was born in Schertz Texas on December 5, 1932 to Ross and Laura Koch Tondre of Marion. She was a graduate of San Marcos Academy and Baylor University. She taught school for twenty years, fifteen in Killeen and five in Marion. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, T. J. Bates, Jr., son, Tee Bates [Aug. 10, 1955 - May 24, 1987], her parents, her sister-in-law, Judy Raum, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thurman J. and Ruth Wilkerson Bates. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Messmore and husband Russell; daughter-in-law, Sherry Bless Bates Christen; niece, Jeri Lynne Houghton; nephew, Jim Raum; cousin, Norma Ann Koch Flynn and husband Jim; numerous friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Long, Kenny McFadden, Russell Rinn, Charlie Koehler, Billy Wade Lovett, Tommy Harper, Billy Bless, Maruice Hilbert. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Kolbe, Kenneth Pape, Craig Rinn, Phil Rinn, Bruce Whitis, Brent Whitis, Barton Whitis, Bradley Whitis, Nancy Whitis, Angie Rose, Betty Ann Matthies, Doris Rinn, and Sandy Wille. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Cupboard, 516 N.
