HOBART - Delores May Baines, 66, Hobart, died Friday (Aug. 13, 1999).
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Miss Baines was born Oct. 16, 1932, in Michigan City, to Lowell and Kate Baines.
Survivors include an aunt, Olga (Herman) Wachholz; an uncle, Ewald Kasper; cousins; her adopted family: sisters Jeanne Miller, Carole McCarthy and Jacquelyn Sterling, all of Westville; and brothers, Harry and Jon Miller; one Godson, Dale "Skip" Sterling Jr., Valparaiso; and many dear friends.
She graduated in 1950 from Tolleston High School in Gary. She had been a Hobart resident since 1959, coming from the Tolleston section of Gary. Most recently she lived in Westville.
She retired from U.S. Steel Gary Works metallurgical division as a secretary, and served as a secretary for Bucko Construction Co. of Gary, Associates Investment Loan Co. and the Chicago Motor Club.
Miss Baines was an accomplished wood carver and naturalist. She was a member of the Chesterton/Valparaiso Order of Easter Star, Chapter 164.
