He was pronounced dead at 7:33 a.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He had been assigned to the Town Hall District and had been on the force for 21 years.
Before being a police officer he was an assistant pastor of an evangelical church in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. He had attended the Moody Bible Institute and Trinity Evangelical University.
