Obituary from the "Eustis Lake Region News," July 2, 1964:
"Mrs. Lyde Walters Bickers, 86, died in Eustis Thursday. Born in Anderson Co., S.C., she moved to Umatilla in 1925 from Greensboro, Ga.
"She was a citrus grower, a member of the First Baptist Church of Umatilla, the [member and Regent, Ocklawaha Chapter] DAR, and was past president of the Umatilla Women's Club.
"She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Nell Giles Flynn, who has lived with Mrs. Bickers for the past four years, and several other nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alfred L. Miller officiating. The body laid in state in the church from 9 a.m. Friends were requested to please omit flowers. Interment services were held at the graveside in Greensboro, Ga., on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Beyers Funeral Home of Leesburg in charge."
