QUAPAW, Okla. - A 15-month-old Quapaw girl was fatally injured late Wednesday afternoon when she was run over by a pickup truck in the driveway of her home.
The victim was Katherine M. Beets, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beets, 204 Cherry street. Young Kathern (sic) was taken to Baxter Springs Memorial hospital tor emergency treatment and was transferred to St. John's hospital in Tulsa where she died at ? o'clock Wednesday night.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. City Marshal Don Gibson identified the driver of the pickup truck as Bertha Crabtree, 24, Quapaw.
The Quapaw officer said young Kathern (sic) apparently was playing behind the pickup truck which was parked in the driveway. She was struck when Mrs. Crabtree, who had been visiting at the home, backed the truck out of the driveway, Gibson said.
She was born December 31, 1964, at Claremore, Okla.
Survivors include one sister, Lavada L. Beets of the home; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Power, Quapaw; her maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Woods, Miami, Mrs. Florence Power, Commerce; paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Rosa Beets, Quapaw.
Her body was received by the Paul Thomas funeral home at Picher.
