John along with his brothers Wiley,Sylvester and Ashford joined up with William Clark Quantrill's Raiders. John along with his brothers were found on the original roster of Quantrill's that was found on one of the dead after the Battle of Pleasant Hill in Missouri.
John's father as not yet been proven but his mother was Nellie Barnett or Barnard. John married first to Seletha Ann Barnard. They were married 13 Aug 1857 in Jackson Co., Missouri.

Elizabeth b. abt 1861 Missouri
James Andy b. 1865
Emma b. 1868

John's second marriage was to Tammer Delaney Youngblood married in Taney Co., Missouri 16 Feb 1890

Nellie Price

Floydie Nevada
Johnny Mackenny
Martha Lee Augusta

John's headstone says born in 1850 but after review of his death certificate it shows he was about 80 yrs at the time of his death.
