Civil War Union Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private and Musician in the Regimental Band of the 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on June 7, 1861. He served until he was discharged at the regiment's camp near Fort Worth, Virginia, on January 14, 1862.
