Katherine "Cole" Shanks lost her battle with cancer after fighting it for 8 months from being diagnosed with it. She left behind her husband, William Albert (Bill) and her daughters: Stephanie Michelle, Melissa Iris Faye and Linda Marie Mae. She was born to Houston Cole and Margaret Mae Underwood. She is the 1st to go of her 5 siblings: Linda Marie "Cole" Hernes, Dale Eugene Parks, David Glen Parks, and twins Paul Ray and Gary Wayne Parks.
Our sister was a beautiful person. She had a huge heart, a "wise innocence" and always tried to keep a positive outlook on life. Her "thumbs up" picture was taken just a couple of weeks before her passing. It shows the type of person she was. She is deeply missed by her daughters, husband, siblings, her niece Shauna Reene "Hernes" Montoya, all her grand children and her stepfather, Dudley Parks and father Houston Cole. She is with our mother, Margaret "Underwood" Parks, who passed away in 1988 also in Roswell, NM. Mom was there to welcome Kat Home.
