On June 25, my dad found Miss Tuffsy laying in a pile of leaves behind our barn. He looked around for other kittens, but didn't see any. The mother was nowhere to be found either, so we're not really sure where she came from.

Her umbilical cord was still attached and shriveled up. She was just a few days old.

I called the vet & they told me to get some milk replacement formula. Miss Tuffsy went with me to the pet shop & everyone at the store thought she was adorable.

We put her in a box with some soft blankets & a little teddy bear, which she liked to snuggle with. She seemed to be doing well. She enjoyed climbing around on the teddy bear & was eager to drink her formula.

On the morning of June 27, I took Miss Tuffsy to the vet because she was bleeding from a wound near her bottom. They gave her IV fluids and started her on antibiotics because the wound had maggots around it.

I kept feeding Miss Tuffsy her formula and she enjoyed snuggling in my arms. I told her that I would show her the fireflies once her eyes were able to open. But she passed away this evening.
