HOMER - Mrs. Lucy Andrews of Como, Passed Away Thursday Morning

After the varied experiences of a long life extending over a period of more than fourscore and ten years, Mrs. Lucy Andrews sank into eternal rest, in the early morning hours, her death occurring at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur B. Smith, in Como, where she has made her home for the past few years. She had been able to be about the house and mingle with the family much of the time, and enjoyed the annual picnic and reunion of her family, which was held some three weeks ago, but since that time has been failing perceptibly and confined almost entirely to her bed.

Mrs. Andrews, whose maiden name was Miss Lucy Miles, was born in Scott, May 19, 1825, and was one of a family of fourteen children of Philo and Abilena Miles. She was the fifth in number, and was the only survivor, and lived to a more advanced age than either of her parents, brothers or sisters.

When five years of age she moved where she lived until her marriage to Samuel Andrews took place at her parents' home on Jan. 1, 1847. Her entire married life has been spent in the town of Homer, living some years, in the village, until the past three and one-half years, when she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Smith at Como. Her husband passed away many years ago, and her daughters and sons have afforded her much comfort and in them she has found constant companionship and support during her many years of widowhood.

Mrs. Andrews has been wonderfully well preserved through all of the years of her long life, her faculties having remained unimpaired to an unusual degree, and she has even taken a lively interest in the many activities of life. While prostrated from the infirmities attended upon one so far advanced in life, her family have anxiously watched her condition, realizing that there was but little hope of recovery, but felt that she was fast nearing the golden shore. She failed gradually, but very perceptibly until the weary and care worn body entered into rest.

Surviving Mrs. Andrews are three daughters, Mrs. Lovilla Wakefield of this village, Mrs. Arthur B. Smith of Como and Mrs. Millard Beyea of Sempronius, and two sons, S. F. Andrews and William Andrews, of this village.

Funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Smith at Como, Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Atwater cemetery, Scott road.
