Clara J. (Libengood) Cornell, 77, of Marienville, formerly of Blairsville, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

The daughter of Robert and Julia May (Barkley) Libengood, she was born May 19, 1927, in Burrell Township. Mrs. Cornell was a member of the United Methodist Church in Strangford. She and her husband were owners of the Knox and Kane Railroad in Marienville.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Sloan; daughters: Rebecca Overly, Robin-son, Marilyn Hafer and her husband Rus-sell, Blairsville, Teri West and her husband Byron of Russell, Patricia Kaas and her husband David Gardners, and Barbara Smith and her husband Craig, Lewis Center, Ohio;

Also a daughter-in-law, Beth Cornell, of Gettysburg; a brother, Paul and his wife Marie, of Blairsville; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James S. who died Sept. 28, 2004; seven sisters: Elva McBurney, Alice Libengood, Nancy Sloan, Helen Mankamyer, Ora-Mae Blystone, Florence Dodson and Ethel Libengood; brothers Robert, Marion and Blaine.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Jason L. McQueen officiating. Interment was at Blairsville Cemetery.
