Sloan Cornell, of Blairsville, died April 20, 2010, in Indiana, PA.

Born March 27, 1925 in North Madison, Ohio, he was the son of James Cornell and Belle (Smith) Cornell.

Mr. Cornell was the previous owner, with his wife, of the Knox and Kane Railroad in Marienville, the Gettysburg Railroad and the former Penn View Mountain Rail Road. He was also a former milk hauler for Isley's Dairy.

He was a member of the Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM of Blairsville.

Mr. Cornell was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Clara Jean Cornell, who died in 2005, and is survived by five daughters, Rebecca Overly of Blairsville, Marilyn Hafer and husband Russel of Blairsville, Teri West and husband Byron of Russell, Patricia Kaas and husband David of Gardners, and Barbara Smith and husband Craig of Dublin, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Beth Cornell of Orrtanna; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also predeceased by a son, James Cornell, who died in 2004; and his siblings, Sanford Cornell, Mae Saunders, Frank Cornell, Elsie Kendall and George Cornell.

Interment was in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
