DONALD L. BURKE "The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains". Lifelong musician and entertainer, Don began entertaining at a young age. He graduated from Castlemont High School in 1942. He played piano and organ in Reno/Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area for over 50 years, most recently at Francesco's in Oakland for 23 years. Don had a special gift of recalling lyrics and tunes to songs long forgotten by many. Don was a lifetime member of Musicians Union Local #6 and a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Don was the devoted husband of Pat for over 50 years. He was the cherished father of Betty Dailey of Pleasanton and Richard Burke of San Leandro. Beloved grandfather of Kevin Dailey of Pleasanton and Allison Dailey of Novato. Loving brother of Hazel Wade of Hayward. Adored by his many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends, all who crossed his path were inspired by his gentleness and musical talents. His passion for bringing joy through his music, his special knack of listening and delightful sense of humor helped many with challenges in their lives. Don's gift of music will long be remembered through treasured recordings he made for friends and family. A Celebration of his life and music will be held at the Alisal Masonic Center, 3370 Hopyard Rd., Pleasanton, on Sunday, August 19, 2001 at 3:00 PM. Funeral Arrangements were handled by Jess C.
