Lillian R. Vossler, 94, formerly of the Otisco Valley Road, Preble, N.Y., passed away on May 25, 2004 in the Cortland Care Center. She was born Dec. 13, 1909, in Cortland, the daughter of Aaron and Esther Gillette Breeds.
She was a longtime and faithful member of the Preble Congregational Church and was active in many local organizations throughout her life.
Mrs. Vossler was retired from the DeRuyter Central School where she taught for several years. Also, along with her late husband, Robert E. Vossler, she operated the Vossler's Dairy Farm in Preble for many years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, she leaves to cherish her memory: four sons, Martin (Kay) Vossler of Preble, Eugene (Martha) Vossler of Morrisville, Vt., Robert (Mary) Vossler, Jr. of Lompoc, Calif., and Alfred (Sheila) Vossler of Atascadero, Calif.; a daughter, Gwendolyn Updyke of Littlestown, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Robert E. Vossler, who died in 1996, she was predeceased by son-in-law, John Updyke and a granddaughter, Kim Vossler.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, in the Preble Congregational Church, 1953 Preble Road, Preble, with the Rev. Wendy Ward officiating.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to MDA-Friedreich's Ataxia, 6493 Ridings Rd. #100, Syracuse, N.Y. 13206. Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, Inc.
