MORAVIA – Seth B. Thornton, 74, of 46 Grove St., died Sunday at Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wade Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bird Cemetery, Locke.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Breeds Thornton; a son, Frank Thornton of Mottville; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Distin of Dublin, Calif., Mrs. Donald Sweeting of Locke; three brothers, Leslie Thornton of Pharsalia, Glenn Thornton of Cuyler and Herman Thornton of Scott; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Johnson of Richford, Mrs. Mabel Pittsley of Cincinnatus, Mrs. Roland Lansdowne of Sempronius, and eight grandchildren.
Born in Slaterville, he was the son of Charles and Minnie Townsend Thornton, and had been a resident of Moravia for 32 years. He was a fireman and engineer for the Ansco Co. of Binghamton for 15 years and also was employed by Hewitt Bros. of Moravia. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Moravia.
