This is my mother. She died on Memorial Day, after a long struggle with health issues. Please keep my family in your prayers and thank you for visiting.

XOXOXOXOXO

I finally posted the pictures of my mom! Unfortunately, I had to delete some of her artwork to make room! :-( Thanks to everyone for your kind words about her paintings. I am SO glad that we thought to take pictures of them before we left town! I will treasure them ALWAYS!!

XOXOXOXOXO

My Mom

My mom was not a huge woman in size, but a huge woman in heart. She had SOOOOO many friends. Many of her friends and family had "gone" before her and were there to greet her as she transitioned to heavenly peace. After she died we heard from people from her high school, College, Dad's Medical School and on and on. My mom was certainly well loved. As much as her friends loved her, her BIGGEST love was my Daddy and the feeling was mutual! Mom and Dad were VERY devoted to each other. After 53 years of marriage he still referred to her as "My Bride!" What better gift can you leave your children than to love their parent. My mom was quite the social butterfly and she loved to get together with "the ladies" to play cards. Almost everyone remembers the cards!! Mostly Bridge. Its not the cards so much as being around other people and spending time together.

Growing up, I don't think things were always easy for she and her family. Her parents divorced while she was in Nursing School. Divorce was not very commom back then, especially among Catholics. I think the cards were "cheap" entertainment and great "brain food."!!

My mom LOVED her antiques and telling the stories that went along with them. I wish I had written them down. She collected BEAUTIFUL antiques, Dolls, Antique Salt dips and paper weights, "Primitive Art" and ANGELS!!! Our ENTIRE Christmas tree was decorated with ANGELS! We had to buy a bigger tree each year to accommodate them all!! She was fond of "Ball Glass Jars" because they were made in her hometown of Muncie, Indiana.

My Mom smells like Gardenias, Magnolias and Ciara Perfume. She smells like Sunday morning breakfast with Corn Bread, Bacon or "Jimmy Dean" Sausage" and Special request birthday dinners.

My mom is ALL AROUND ME. I'm so greatful for that. I see her in the Cardinal that showed up on our back porch the morning of her visitation, the hawk that circled our house and followed the limo part of the way to her funeral mass, and the roadrunner who ran by after we left the interment ceremony. All creatures that my mother adored and taught me to appreciate!!

I see her in lemon trees and Birds of Paradise, because we had them in the back yard when we lived in La Jolla, California. EVERY picture we have from that house is in front of the BIRD OF PARADISE!! And she would always ask me to "go pick a lemon from the lemon bush" for our iced tea.

I see her in groups of women having lunch together and enjoying each other's company. Mom and her Friends (that I refer to as the "Ya-Yas) could always find a reason to get together. Sometimes it was to play cards, but usually to CELEBRATE!! Any reason would do, but it was usually someones birthday or Anniversary and there was ALWAYS EXCELLENT food involved.

There is so much more I want to say and share about my momma, but this will have to do for now. It's enough to give you a "little taste" of her and keep you coming back for more! She would have liked that!!!

XOXOXOXOXO

Thank you so much to everyone for your quick response and kind words. It will seem strange to many that this would be the first place I would go in my grief, but you all understand, there is no better place I can be until I can make it home to my family. I felt the need to rally the angels to celebrate her life and to assist those of us who remain behind to grieve her loss. There are no words sufficient to express my gratitude. May God's abundant blessings rain down on you and your loved ones. Peace, Love and Special Butterfly kisses to my littlest friends.

I have attempted to thank each of you individually, if I have missed someone, PLEASE accept my apologies and know that your thoughtfulness is truly appreciated!!

XOXOXOXOXO
