Ed was a long-time U.S. Geological Survey employee with 32 years of service as an economic geologist with the Mineral Resources Program. He mapped the geology and wrote geologic reports about many areas in central and northern Arizona. Father of Beckie, Sara, and Andy DeWitt. He died owing to heart failure related to diabetes complications.
A celebration of his life was held August 23, 2013 a St. Jude Catholic Church with a reception following at Kendrick Lake Park, both in Lakewood.
