Father Jasper F. Sirianni entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in Harrison Township, Michigan. He was 87 years old. Father had been a priest for 61 years. With his passing the Blue Water Area lost a dedicated leader.

Father Sirianni was born on August 14, 1920, in Kane, Pennsylvania. He attended Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, and Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Norwood, Ohio. On October 26, 1946, at the age of 26, he was ordained a priest by Cardinal Edward Mooney for the Archdiocese of Detroit. Father celebrated his first Mass at Holy Rosary Church in Detroit.

Father Sirianni served as an assistant pastor at St. Alphonsus Parish, Dearborn (1946-51); St. Ignatius Parish, Detroit (1951-54); St. Clement Parish, Dearborn (1954-59); and St. Edward Parish, Detroit (1959-63).

He was the founding pastor of St. Theodore of Canterbury Parish, Westland in 1963, and served there until 1967. He also seved as pastor at St. Philip Neri Parish, Detroit (1967-70); and St. Matthias Parish, Sterling Heights (1970-81). Fr. Sirianni served as vicar of the old North Macomb Vicariate of the Detroit Archdiocese, from 1978-81.

In 1981, he was named pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Emmet, where he served until 1991. Father Sirianni was vicar of the Port Huron Vicariate from 1983-1986. He achieved senior priest status in 1991, and then became the administrator at Our Lady of Mount Carmel from 1991 to 2005. He was a source of hope and comfort to members of Mount Carmel where he led the church and its people for 24 years. Parishioners there named a social hall in his honor.

During his parish ministry, Father Sirianni was a member of the Presbyteral Council. He served as notary for the Archdiocesan Marriage Tribunal, and was on the Priests' Senate. He served as chaplain for the Army National Guard and Reserve at Camp Grayling and at TACOM in Warren from 1953-1980.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 22, from 4 until 7 p.m. Father's body will be transferred to St. Peter Parish, 98 New Street, Mt. Clemens, on Friday, May 23. Visitation will be from 7:30 until 9 p.m., with a scripture service at 8 p.m.

Father Sirianni's body will lie in state at St. Peter Parish on Saturday, May 24, from 9 a.m. until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at a later date.

Father Sirianni is survived by cousins, Diana (Jim) Catallo-Porter and Gus Catallo; several cousins in Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. Father is also survived by his very dear friends and caregivers, George and Julia Jacob.
