(January 27, 1942 - March 21, 2013)
Francis A. Haarala, 71, was a native and resident of Pascagoula, Ms. He was born January 27, 1942 and departed this life on March 21, 2013. Francis was a retired Alignment Engineer at Ingall's Shipyard where he worked for 38 years. He was a Dixie Youth Baseball Coach for many years, loved Ole Miss football, and was an avid duck hunter. He also enjoyed fishing at Chandelier Island, staying at Schooner Harbor, cruising the beach with his dog, Izzy, and hanging out at the tree farm with his family. He loved his family and friends and was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eino Haarala and Bessie Gibbons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth (Hollingsworth) Haarala of Pascagoula; 2 daughters, Misty Haarala of Pascagoula and Kristi (Troy) Summerlin of Vancleave; 1 son , Mitchell (Michelle) Haarala of Pascagoula; 5 grandchildren, Christopher and Keri Beth Summerlin of Vancleave, Ben and Jack Haarala of Pascagoula and Alison Alvarado of Baton Rouge, La; his father-in-law, J.P. Hollingsworth; 1 brother, Walter A. (Ruth) Haarala of Mobile, Al; 3 nephews, Randy (Karen) Haarala of Vancleave, Richard (Terri) Haarala and Marc (Shelly) Haarala of Frisco, Tx.
Visitation will be Sunday March 24, 2013 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Fisher and Rev. Earl Greenough officiating. In Lieu of Flowers send donations to the Estonia Mission Fund at the First Methodist Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
