VANCLEAVE -- Fred Carter, 59, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, in Ocean Springs.
Mr. Carter was a lifetime resident of Vancleave. He worked as a welder for Ingalls Shipbuilding for about 20 years and was employed at Mallette Brothers for the past 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Carter; a son, Richard Carter; and a daughter, Joan Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Lepoma Carter; five sons, Eugene Carter, John Carter and Jeffery Carter, all of Vancleave, Daniel Carter of Lucedale and Tony Carter of Jackson; four sisters, Brenda Kemper of Escatawpa, Rita McDough of New Orleans, Fredna Vice of Moss Point and Dianne Fulton of Lucedale; three brohters, Michael Carter and Ronnie Carter, both of Escatawpa, and Kennith Grace of Fairfield, Calif.; his mother, Vaudie Grace of Fairfield; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi.
