Dot was born Dorothy Dee Clark in Devon, Kansas, near Fort Scott. Her father, Eugene Clark, went missing when she was very young, and was presumed dead. Her mother, Edith, remarried, and her husband, Oscar, who had two sons, Clay and Francis, from a previous marriage, adopted Dorothy, giving her the Larson name. Dot, and her husband, Jim, were married April 28, 1928, and had a son, James Kenneth II. She passed away peacefully at a nursing home in California, Missouri.
