Edith was born on a farm outside of Devon, Kansas, near Ft. Scott. She was the youngest of five children of Dwight and Florence Richards. Her first husband, Eugene Clark, disappeared and was presumed dead. She had always suspected he had been murdered, but it was never proven.
She met her second husband, Oscar Larson, while she was working as a Fred Harvey girl in the railroad station in Ft. Scott. She was a single mother, supporting her daughter, Dorothy. Oscar was an Engineer with the St. Louis and San Francisco (Frisco) railroad. He had two sons, Clay and Francis, from a previous marriage. Edith and Oscar were married on February 8, 1921, in the courthouse in Ft. Scott, with Judge Crider presiding. The next day, Oscar legally adopted Dorothy, giving her the Larson name. Edith and Oscar together had another daughter, Beverly, in 1925.
Edith passed away from a heart attack at the home of Beverly, and her husband Aksel, at 8819 Craig St., Overland Park, Kansas.
