Will grew up in Simi Valley, California. He learned to fly at the Camarillo airport in southern California, and was a private pilot. He worked as a Line Service Technician at the Van Nuys airport in the San Fernando Valley. After graduating from Boot Camp in San Diego, he served in the Navy, first as a Lockheed P-3 Orion Flight Engineer, then as an aircraft maintenance technician at the Point Mugu Naval Air station. After leaving the Navy, he was a mechanic for Gulfstream at the Long Beach, California airport.
