NORFOLK - Mrs. Mae Meixel Carter, 74, of 1332 Gabriel Drive died in a hospital Monday at 6 a.m.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., she has lived here 65 years. She was a daughter of Charles and Mrs. Mary Meixel and the widow of John LeRoy Carter.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clyde W. Pollard and Mrs. Darrold F. Bryant of Norfolk; five half sisters, Mrs. Rose Blackston and Mrs. Margaret Christe of Norfolk, Mrs. Emma Warren of Chesapeake, Mrs. Elizabeth Pipes of Lemon Grove, Calif., and Mrs. Antoinette Leidel of Oxnard, Calif.; a brohter, Herman Meixel of Jacksonville, Fla.; two half brothers, Carl Meixel of Portsmouth and Walter Meixel of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in Smith & Williams Funeral Hoem Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family will be at 1345 Gabriel Drive.
