Son of Jacob and Catherine R (Davidson) Felps, husband of Almeta "Allie" Wonsley.
Britton served in the Blanco Co. Rangers or Minute Men in May 1861. An organization called Former Texan Ranger Association (http://www.formertexasrangers.org/) with offices in Fredericksburg is documenting, locating, and recognizing the burial sites of former Texas Rangers. They consider the Blanco County Rangers or Minute Men a Texas Ranger group. The FTRA upon proper documentation of ones ancestor furnishes a Texas Ranger Memorial Cross to be placed at the Ranger's headstone. A direct descendant can apply. I applied for our direct ancestor, Britton III, born 1826 or 1829, died 1904, and he was approved for recognition. The FTRA considers these men as providing service in defense of the Texas frontier. Landowners were expected to furnish men to help guard the area; these assignments were of short duration.
