Funeral services for Anna Rachael Caswell, 79, who died at Hayward, Calif., Nov. 12, were held at the Methodist church here Wednesday afternoon. The service was conducted by the Rev. Leo G. Wolfe. Mrs. Delbert Ford and Mrs. Roswell Jordan sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." They were accompanied by Mrs. Russell Newcomm. Casket bearers were Chas. W. Thomas, Floyd Kretzinger, John Miller, M. H. Galloway, Roswell Garst and Clarence Bowman. Interment was in the Coon Rapids cemetery.
Obituary
Anna Rachael Caswell, daughter of Jesse and Mary Colbert, was born in Williams County, Ohio on December 5, 1873 and passed away at her home in Hayward, California, November 12, 1953, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 7 days.
When a child she moved with her parents to Guthrie County and then to Audubon County. She lived here until she was united in marriage to Carl F. Caswell on March 10, 1895. Three years ago, she moved to Hayward, California, where she has since made her home. She was a member of the Coon Rapids Methodist Church, a member of the W. C. T. U. and a charter member of the Legion Auxiliary. Preceding her in death are her husband who passed away in 1943; her parents; one son, Richard Caswell, and one daughter, lone Nisely; two sisters and two brothers. Those surviving are one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Leta Mingus and Orson Caswell, both of Hayward, California; Fred C. Caswell of Minneapolis, Minnesota; five brothers, Cash Colbert of Jefferson, Oral, Wilson, Robert and Clarence Colbert, all of Scranton, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Caswell, with her husband, was a pioneer in the Coon Rapids community and did much in its development. For many years they conducted a paint and wallpaper store here in the building now owned by Lloyd Cleaners. Both were good citizens, good neighbors, and will long be remembered with affection by their many friends.
