January 1942 – Scouting Awards Given. Marysville and Ashton Boy Scouts were in attendance at the court of honor held in the Ashton library. Among the scouts granted awards were Lynn Allison, reading, and Wayne Allison, first aid to animals. Lynn also received a one-year service star. Wayne and Lynn received badges for one year’s perfect attendance at scout meetings. The paper gathered by scouts will be sorted and shipped this week. –The Post-Register, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Monday, January 26, 1942, Page 2.

January 1947 – Missionary. Wayne L. Allison, will leave February 2 as a missionary for the LDS church to the Spanish-American mission field. He will first go to Salt Lake City for preliminary training at the mission home and will later be stationed at El Paso, Tex. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Allison of Ashton. He was graduated from the Ashton high school in January 1945, then served 18 months in the navy. He was discharged Aug. 1, 1946 and since has been attending Ricks college. A farewell party will be held January 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ashton LDS Chapel. –The Post-Register, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Sunday, January 26, 1947, Page 4.

December 1949 – Missionary Fraternity. Wayne Allison was among the 27 returned missionaries who pledged the Delta Phi, a national missionary fraternity, in October. A formal banquet and dance climaxed the formal initiation ceremonies Saturday night, December 3rd at Ricks college. –The Post-Register, Monday, Dec. 5, 1949, Page 5.

December 1949 – Viking Mittmen. Wayne Allison, 197 pound, three-year letterman from Ashton reported for boxing at Ricks College in Rexburg. The Idaho Falls newspaper, The Post-Register, published Thurs., Dec. 15, 1949, Page 12 reports eight or ten matches will be scheduled during the year with five or six at Ricks. Matches with San Francisco State, Eastern Oregon College of Education, Idaho State frosh, Southern Idaho College of Education, Utah State Agriculture college frosh and Snow College are planned.

April 1989 – Passage. A Rancho Penasquitos, California resident, Wayne L. Allison, 62, executive vice president of U.S. International University passed away at Pomeradao Hospital in Poway, Saturday, April 22. Born in St. Anthony, Idaho, his burial was in Ashton were he grew up.

As second person in command, Mr. Allison was responsible for the operations of all of U.S. International University’s campuses abroad. Originally employed at USIU in 1972 as director of the Mexico City campus, he became provost of the San Diego campus. After opening a campus in Bushey, England, Lynn held two jobs simultaneously for five years – director of the English campus and provost of the San Diego campus.

His widow, Verna; four sons, Greg Wayne, Stephen Carlisle, Mark L. and Thomas James, all of San Diego; a daughter, Masina Lynn of San Diego; brothers, Daren of San Diego, and Clair of Idaho; sisters, Laura Love of El Paso, Texas, Jane Harvey of Las Vegas and Marie Marshall of Utah; parents, James and Sarah Allison of Ashton; and three grandchildren survive. –Evening Tribune, San Diego, California, April 24, 1989.
