Lloyd D. Edmiston, 79, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Alice Mae, Saturday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late David Miles and Ezetta Elizabeth (Woolridge) Edmiston. He married Alice Mae Cashman on Nov. 17, 1952, when the couple gave their hearts to each other. She preceded him in death on July 28, 1994.

He is survived by three loving and proud children: Dale Rodney and wife, Erma, in California, David S. and wife, Laura, of Altoona and Paula L. and husband, Paul Madrid, of Altoona; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a niece. He also held close to his heart Mr. Cat; his sister-in-law, Sally Gordon; and lifelong friends Ken Kelley and Jack Verilla, Jr.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Paulette Jo, and a daughter-in-law, Sabrina.

He retired from the Blair County Courthouse as a deputy in the Prothonotary's Office.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War with the 1st Marine Division, where he was wounded in action in the Chosin Reservoir Area on Nov. 29, 1950. He received a Purple Heart Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Presidential Unit Citation.

He was a member of the Chosin Few.

He loved life, family, reading, animals and sports. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Altoona Curve. He loved baseball, and he coached little league baseball for 21 years.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona. A Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Committal at Carson Valley Cemetery with military honors.
