Bartholomew Beach died in the home of his son, George, in Duncansville, last evening, aged 75 years, 7 months and 20 days. Deceased was a soldier in the Union army and was a member of Company E, Thirteenth Pennsylvania Volunteer Calvary, having been promoted from the ranks to first corporal which position he held until he was mustered out. He saw some severe fighting, his company being present at the battles of the Wilderness, Stony Point and other hard-fought engagements. He was a member of James H. Gibboney Post 463, Grand Army of the Republic.

Mr. Beach was married November 20, 1855 to Miss Cornelia C. Langham of Duncansville, who survives, together with a number of children, some of whom live in Altoona.

The Altoona survivors are: Mrs. T. A. Bower, Mrs. Cecelia Dunn and Mrs. Ida Lantz. Four sons, Maxwell of Hollidaysburg, Samuel, Ora and Harry at home and a daughter, Mrs. Isadore Divans of McKeesport, are also survivors.

The funeral will take place from the Lutheran church at 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon. Interment will be made in Carson Valley cemetery.
