Richard L. Beebe, III, 46, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 16, 2009 at his home in Sioux Falls, SD. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, at SonRise Baptist Church, 3300 East Oak St., Sioux Falls, SD, conducted by Pastor Jesse Moore. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.

Richard was born January 3, 1963 in Des Moines, IA to Richard L. II and Patricia (Doll) Beebe. In 1982, he enlisted in the United States Army and was primarily stationed in Germany but also participated in Operation Fury -- Invasion of Grenada.

Upon his honorable discharge from the service, Richard was united in marriage to Rosemarie Smith on May 12, 1990 in Atlantic, IA. He was a member of Sioux Empire Radio Club and at the time of his passing, was South Dakota Section Manager of ARRL (American Radio Relay League).

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Rosemarie Beebe, Sioux Falls; son, Logan Beebe USN, Charleston, SC; daughter, Dana Beebe, Sioux Falls; step-daughter, Alyssa Damiata, Sioux Falls; one step-grandson, Carson Damiata, Sioux Falls; mother and step-father, Patricia (Dale) Ruha, Sioux Falls; sister, Shauna (Gene) Laver, Harlan, IA; half-sister, Anna (George) Evans, Atlantic, IA; three half-brothers, Dell (Carol) Beebe, Griswold, IA, Randy (Tiffany) Beebe, Griswold, IA; and Brian (Angela) Beebe, Oakland, IA; step-brother, John (Marnee) Ruha, Lytle Creek, CA; step-sister, Barb Ruha, Coon Rapids, MN; uncle, James (Sharyn) Doll, Edina, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Beebe II, step-mother, Phyllis Beebe and his grandparents, Floyd and Norabelle "Nana" (Thomas) Doll, and Ida (Presler) Cox.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the family.

Honoring Richard's wishes, he was cremated and his ashes will be buried at sea at a later date.

Son, Logan, proudly serving our country in US Navy, took part in the color guard flag ceremony and presented the folded flag to his mother.

Although Richard faced health challenges since age 35, he never gave up. He had nearly completed paralegal/pre-law classes and planned to attend Univ. of SD to earn his law degree. We were so proud of him.

Richard was a supporter of organ/tissue donations. Unfortunately, we were unable to fulfill this wish for him. Please consider making your family aware of your wishes and mark your driver's license, if you share this view.
