Our 1st Dog

Sam was a Terrier/Cocker Spaniard mix and buff color. We went to Pennsauken Mart in New Jersey to buy our daughter little jelly shoes. We ended up buying a puppy, Sam, our 1st dog. He was the most lovable beautiful dog one could ask for.

At the age of 8, Sam was trotting in the house along with Shaggy when he gave a loud yelp! Something happened to his hind leg and was immediately taken to the vets. Somehow Sam pulled ligaments and tendons in his leg and the hind leg had to be re-constructed. Having that fixed and months later it happened again. He had a calcium deficiency in his bones and they kept breaking. This is one thing that couldn't be fixed. We had to put him down. It would just keep on happening. Sam died on Tuesday, August 13, 1996.

Sam was privately cremated and held onto his ashes until 2015 when my next door neighbor Sandy died and she had three cremated animals in her house. Her wish was for me to take her animal ashes and scatter them in the Delaware River which I did and took Sam's ashes and scattered them along with her pets.

Shaggy, our 2nd dog, never got over Sam's death and soon follow him to the Rainbow Bridge a year later.

Sam was 9 years, 4 months, 16 days old.
(In human years he would have been 57 yrs old)
