Vincent DePaul Aloysius Hines was born on Boone Street in Manayunk in 1888. Both his parents were Irish Immigrants and devoted Catholics. Mary Shields and Frank Hines (aka Hone) were born in Donegal,Ireland and died before Vincent Hines was 20. In 1910 Vincent and his brother, James, were living with their sister, Mary Hines McMenamin and her family. Vincent Hines married Agnes Mahoney in September 1910 at St.Francis Xavier R.C. Church in Phila(Agnes's uncle Rev.Partick Fogarty performed the ceremony) He was working as a mailer for the Philadelphia Bulletin and the Philadelphia Record Newspapers. Mailers would take the newspapers off the presses and prepare them for the Trucks for delivery. They would stuff the newspapers by hand with any special inserts such as advertisements. Then they bundled the newspapers and sent them to the loading docks where they were placed on trucks for delivery. When Vincent Hines succumbed to a heart attack he was only 56 yrs old (collapsed on the job July 12 at the newspaper) on July 15, 1945 he died in Hahnemann hospital at Broad and Vine Street,at the time three of his sons were serving in the Armed Forces during World War II. They were Vincent(Army), Joseph(Air Corp) and Francis(Army).
