Rachel Barnholt was born in Pennsylvania, probably Philadelphia, between 1809 and 1812. Her parents were Elizabeth and John Barnholt. Some of the census records indicate that her mother was born in Germany. But John Barnholt was born in Pennsylvania and was probably of German heritage.
Rachel had at least two sibling's, George Barnholt and Elizabeth Barnholt,and probably more but haven't found as of yet.
Sometime before 1837, Rachael married George Washington Carpenter and they had at least eight children including William Henry (Mary Pembroke); Richard (Eva Phenegar); George Washington; Rachel; Lewis; Anna (Albert Roat); Sarah (Thomas Hunter) and James.
Rachel lived to be about 94 years old.
