Lewis was born July 12, 1838 in Enfield CT. He was married to Mary Jane Warner on Nov. 25, 1858 in Dudley, MA. She died Oct. 7, 1911 and is buried in the Grove Street Cemetery in Putnam, CT. There is also a stone there for Lewis. His second wife was Elizabeth Baker. He died in Providence, RI on Jan. 15, 1922. He and his wife Mary Jane raised their granddaughter Viola Andrews, the only child of their daughter Fanny who was their only child that survived past infancy.
