NEODESHA ‹ Irene G. Howe, 92, of Neodesha died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at the Golden Keys Nursing Home in Neodesha. Mrs. Howe had been in failing health for the past several months.

She was born Nov. 27, 1915, in Thayer to Albert Roy and Corrilla Charlotte (Lindsay) Wheeler. She attended Thayer schools and was a teacher in rural Thayer. She was retail owner of the Merle Norman Boutique in Neodesha.

She married Gerald R. Howe on Nov. 30, 1935, in Fredonia. He died April 30, 1996.

Survivors include six children, Gerald K. Howe of Georgetown, Texas, Katherine Green and Charlotte Howe, both of Independence, Wesley R. Howe of Nashville, Tenn. Helen Hudiburg of Houston and Mort Howe of Rancho Belago, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Community Christian Church of Independence. Burial will follow at Thayer Cemetery.

Friends and family may call Monday at Potts Chapel in Independence, where family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Community Christian Church or the Golden Keys Nursing Home and they may be left with the funeral home.
