Hattie Leila Powell, 90, of St. James, Missouri, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in St. James, Missouri.

She was born, June 20, 1917, in Buxton, Kansas, the daughter of John R. and Eugina (Hight) Duby.

She was united in marriage to Fred Powell on December 22, 1937, in Neodesha, Kansas. He preceded her in death on Monday, February 18, 1983.

Hattie was a homemaker.

she was a member of the First Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Wilson County Hospital Auxiliary. She was in charge of bereavement dinners at the Christian Church for many years prior to moving to the Gran Vilas. She was a resident of the Gran Vilas from July, 2003 until March, 2006.

Hattie is survived by two grandsons, Khan Powell of Rolla, MO, and Adam Powell of Lenexa KS.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Darrell.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held February 25, 2008, at the First Christian Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Rev. Robert Agee will officiate. Inurnment will be in Neodesha Cemetery.
