Wilma Jean Loflin of Neodesha, KS, died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at the Wilson Medical Center – Reece Campus. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Christ Church in Neodesha under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Dave Cheshier will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery.
Friends may call to register on Tuesday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m.
The daughter of Steve M. and Zelda Irene (Sandefur) Smalley, she was born December 29, 1926, on a farm five miles east of Neodesha, KS.
Mrs. Loflin attended Moorhead Consolidated School from first grade through her senior year, graduating in 1944.
On February 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Max D. Loflin in Fredonia. He preceded her in death in 2007.
She was a homemaker until 1969 when she went to work as a cook at Heller Elementary School. She left that job in 1977 due to ill health.
Mrs. Loflin was a member of the First Christian Church and an active member of the CWF.
Survivors include one son, Doug Loflin of Neodesha; one daughter, Sandra Kay Nix of Ar-lington, TX; two brothers, Michael Smalley of Neodesha and Steven "Duane" Smalley of Arvada, CO; one sister, Sharon Kay Wolf of Jefferson City, MO; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, a sister and a granddaughter.
