Mabel Davis Smith
Mabel Irene Davis Smith of Neodesha, KS, died Wednesday evening at the Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday March 18, 2006, at the First Christian Church under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel. The Reverend Robert Agee will officiate. Interment will be in Neodesha Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from noon-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
The daughter of Frank and Stella (Young) Kebert, she was born September 20, 1918, in Neodesha, Kansas. She graduated from Neodesha High School and later attended the Kansas City Business College.
She was united in marriage to Rodney L. Davis on March 25, 1939, in Fredonia, KS. He preceded her in death July 10, 1996. She married Robert F. Smith January 7, 2004 Miami, OK. He survives at the home.
Mabel was a member of the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for 16 years. She also enjoyed quilting and loved to fish and raise flowers.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Ruth Thurman of Altoona, KS, and June Kiddoo of Chanute, KS; one brother, Henry (Dick) Kebert of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren, Scott Pendleton of Plano, TX, and Sandra Slater of Davis, OK; three great-granddaughters, Amber and Shannon Surface and Maci Slater; two step-great grandsons, Trey and Kyle Slater.
In addition to her first husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Karen Sue Pendleton.
