Benjamin Franklin Highfield was born in Bartow county on Feb 12, 1891.The son of B.F. and Mollie Highfield, his siblings included Charlie, William H, Robert Roland and Emma.
He married Nancy Anna Coheley on June 6, 1909 afterwards he worked at Pepprerell Mill in Lindale, GA for several years.

In 1930, he ran a farm on Chulio Pike Road in Floyd County, Ga. According to the Rome News -Tribune on August 14, 1932 the first Cotton boll of the 1932 crop was reported as grown on the farm of B.F. Highfield of the Spring Creek Community. L.J. Nichols came into the news office to announce that the field was "white, almost ready for picking."

Nancy Anna walked in from the fields and died of a heart attack on October 08, 1946. They had had eight children Charles Franklin, Benjamin Franklin, Jessie, Lily Ann , James, John Franklin, Robert Paul, and Benjamin Donald.

He bought and sold used cars until his death on March 10, 1976, when someone murdered him in his home. He was stabbed in the chest with a butcher knife and strangled with an electric cord. The killer took what money he had. He was 85 years old .
