Mr. J . Vaughn Mac' McIntyre , 74, of Mint Hill, NC died Friday, January 28, 2000 at his home.

He was born November 18, 1925 in Union County, North Carolina, the only son of Jessie McIntyre and Nora Ferguson McIntyre . He was a 1942 graduate of Matthews High School and served in The United States Navy where he served as a signal man during World War II. After returning home from the war he attended North Carolina Vocational Textile in Belmont, NC. He later became a sales representative with Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation for 30 years. Upon his retirement from Brown and Williamson Corp. Mac' found his place in Law Enforcement where he joined the Matthews Police Department in 1972 and was recently awarded Honorary Sergeant.

Mac was a member of the First Baptist Church of Matthews, Matthews Masonic Lodge and had coached Little League Baseball in Matthews, and was a member of the Mint Hill V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and his beach home.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. McIntyre will be held 2PM Monday, January 31, 2000 from the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Matthews with The Reverend Dr. officiating. The family will greet friends from 1PM until the funeral hour at the church. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mac is survived by his wife, Eloise McIntyre, sons, Larry and wife Caroline of Boiling Springs, NC; David and his wife, Kathy of Matthews; daughter Karen Denise McIntyre ; four grandchildren: Tiffany McIntyre , Tricia McIntyre Bost, Stefanie McIntyre and Heather McIntyre ; two great-grandchildren, Hailey O'Neal and Jesse Bost; three step-grandchildren: Paige Campbell, Tim Hinson and Carey Hinson.

Memorials may be made in remembrance of J . Vaughn McIntyre to the First Baptist Church of Matthews, Post Office Box 248, Matthews, NC 28105 or to Presbyterian Home Care Hospice, 217 Travis Ave., P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.
