Rose received her education at the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC) with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught and loved young people at Harrisburg Elementary, First Ward Elementary, and 25 years at Matthews Elementary School. She spent her retired years traveling, learning, and enjoying life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William G. Erwin, Jr. and Esther Rose Ingram Erwin, sister and brother-in-law, Florence Hilton Erwin Rhodes and Glen G. Rhodes, brother, James Hiter Erwin, and nephew, Glen Garrison Rhodes, Jr.
Rose is survived by her long time best friend, Martha Price, brother, William G. Erwin, III and wife, Lorraine, sister-in-law, Katherine R. Erwin, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
We wish to thank Cathy Jones, caregiver, for her love and care of Rose, the wonderful Matthews Retired Teachers group, and the UNCC 49er group, and the UNCC staff for their love and support.
The service to celebrate Rose's life will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel in Mint Hill, NC on Saturday, September 10, 2011. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Charles Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
