She was an aspiring actress and writer. She is the inspiration of "Rachel's Challenge". Rachel's Challenge is a nationwide school outreach program that helps prevent teen violence. She was awarded the 2001 National Kindness Award for Student of the Year by the Acts of Kindness Association.
