HARRISBURG -- Mr. Richie, 52, of Harrisburg, passed away on December 2, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.
Born in South Boston, VA on June 21, 1958 to Charles Elvin and Nancy Lee Woodson Richie, Danny has lived in Charlotte area since 1974. He was employed with Zurich Insurance as an adjuster for the past 15 years. Mr. Richie was an active member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Stephens Ministry, music ministry, children's and youth choir director, served as a worship chairperson as well as sang in the choir. Danny will be remembered for his music and being a loving and devoted family man. His family will miss game night, a time that Danny and his family put aside each week to spend quality time together.
Danny is survived by his wife Karen; his children Ryan C. Richie of the home, Brandon (Cori) Richie and Amelia Richie, all of Charlotte; father Charles (Cindy) Richie of South Boston, VA; mother Nancy (Bobby) McBride of Danville, VA; and sister Cindy (Chip) Barringer of Midland.
A service to celebrate the life of Danny Richie will take place today, Saturday, at 1PM at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Rd., Charlotte. The family will receive friends at the church following the service in the Trinity Room.
The family has asked that memorials be made to Hickory Grove UMC, 6401 Hickory Grove Rd., Charlotte, NC 28215.
